Things To Do In San Diego This Winter

You know it’s winter in San Diego when everyone around you is bundled up for a blizzard because it’s 62 degrees outside!

As the cold weather approaches, there are an abundance of ways to warm up your spirit this season. From getting out on the rink to show your skating skills to sitting back and enjoying the sights San Diego has it all! 

 

FESTIVITIES

 

Seaside Skating

When you’re packing for the beach would you think to pack ice skates? Probably not! Every year Hotel Del Coronado creates the ultimate ice skating experience by putting the rink seaside! From November 22nd 2021 to January 2nd 2022 this ice skating experience is open every day, including Christmas and New Years.Whether you go during the sun set or enjoy the lights at night this is a must do this winter!


Ice Skating at Liberty Station

San Diego’s former Naval training center, Liberty Station has great eats, shops and activities year round but during the winter it turns into it’s very own winter wonderland! The Rady’s Children Ice Rink makes its appearance yearly from November 18th until January 9th. This outdoor rink is magical with palm trees wrapped in lights and a christmas tree, perfect for pictures this season. If you’re looking to enjoy a San Diego ice rink on a budget, this rink is waiting for you! 


The Grinch at The Golden Globe Theater

What’s on your to-do list this winter? Mister Grinch is a busy man! At 4:00 he’s wallowing in self pity, 4:30 he’s staring into the abyss, 5:00 he’s solving world hunger (but telling no one)and all of December he is putting on his play at San Diego’s Golden Globe Theater! Annually, an incredibly talented cast comes together to welcome Christmas with a musical recreation of this christmas classic. If you find yourself asking where are you Christmas, come down to the theater to get a taste of Whoville!

The Grass Skirt

Tis the season for Sippin’ Santa cocktails served at The Grass Skirt here in San Diego! This Pacific Beach Tiki-bar is hosting their very own pop up until December 31st. Here you can get your favorite cocktails in custom Christmas cups, rounds of Rudolph shots and a snow globe desert. Make sure Santa doesn’t drive his sleigh because he’s about to enjoy a holly jolly happy hour with you at The Grass Skirt Sippin’ Santa pop up! 





False Idol 

False Idol is in the spirit this year! With a menu curated to make you fa-la-la-la this season you can’t go wrong! Their 5:00pm happy hour let’s you enjoy the festivities before enjoying the festivities. Grab your Santa hats and get your girls to go to this spirited treat!

This season you can have the best of both worlds with sunshine and snow here in San Diego! In Julian California, snow is not unheard of. As January comes around the snow begins to hit the ground. Keep an eye on the weather this winter because everyone deserves a snow day! While you’re enjoying your winter wonderland be sure to stop by one of their many delicious spots to eat and get a warm apple pie to take home!



Whale Watching

It’s the most wonderful time of the year to watch the whales! Between December and April the whales make their journey from Alaska to Baja California to give birth creating the perfect time to watch these incredible creatures. The 10,000 miles they travel is the longest migration of any mammal, how amazing is that! Check this off your list of dreams this season here in San Diego!
